This is a quick guide to the interface for the 2 graphical user interfaces recommended for our initial foray into SQL databases. They are by no means the only ones, I recommend them because they work well and are free.

Valentina Studio is a free database management tool available on Windows, macOS and Linux. One app covers all database types and formats. Many tasks you pay for with other database and IT management products are available in the free Valentina Studio product. Chances are, all the features you were using SQLPro Studio for before are in our free version. Download it now and see.
If you too are interested in such a thing, let me know.
This is fantastic! I need to use it for a bit, but this might just replace tsql (finally!).
Only support MySQL

I use Sequel Pro 70% of my work time. It helps me building big queries and optimizing them too. The last big project Sequel Pro helped me with was the integration of a big catalog coming from AS400 with an e-commerce website.
These instructions are for the SQLite Manager client. Go here for Sequel Pro
Hard to find fault in the application but if I had to pick something it would be that the interface could use some love from designers. Seems like it was entirely designed by developers so there's some awkward bits. That's not to say it's ugly, but just that there is room for improvement to the overall UI and UX.

However, now (March 2010) I believe there are two serious contenders and worthwhile versions for the MAC and Linux which have a low cost associated with them. The first one is Aqua Data Studio which costs about $450 per user, which is a barely acceptable, but cheap compared to DBArtizan and others with similar functionality (but MS only). The other is RazorSQL which only costs $69 per user. Aqua data studio is good, but a resource hog and basically pretty sluggish and has non essential features such as the ER diagram tool, which is pretty bad at that. The Razor is lightning fast and is only a 16meg download and has everything an SQL developer needs including a TSQL editor.
